on the performance…
It was a game of two halves. In the first half we were too slow, didn’t move the ball quickly enough, were beaten in all the physical duels and that was disappointing. In the second half, we did a lot better on that. We competed well [and] we moved the ball a lot quicker. We looked like we would create some opportunities. We had all the possession which we didn’t have in the first half.

on what was said at the break…
They obviously knew I wasn’t pleased at half time, with the [first-half] performance. They responded and did better in the second. That was the message to them - that we needed to compete in the areas we needed to compete, but also show the physicality when we were protecting and shielding the ball, and then moving the ball on, and when we have opportunities to pass it, to pass it quickly. We did that better in the second half. In the first half we were poor for most aspects of the game.

on the opposition…
Credit to West Brom, they always have a competitive side and had people like Craig Dawson and El Ghanassy in the team, who have played lots of first-team football, and then one or two others that have been on loan in the lower leagues, like Romaine Sawyers. They were probably an older group than us but that’s what we want to play against and you have to go and show what you can do.

on getting it right in the FA Youth Cup…
Steve Gatting’s taking that team and we tried to rest a couple today and bring a couple off because of that game in mind. We’ve already qualified for the next stages of the Under-21 league group, but you still want to win every game you play.
