On the performance…
“It’s disappointing not to convert some of our play into chances and I think they need to show a little bit more patience and not get so frustrated. But I think it’s a maturity thing – but I think they’ll learn from it.”

On the opposition…

“We’ve played Lincoln, we’ve played Maidenhead and we’ve come to Boreham Wood tonight who were well organized, strong and fit. It was a good test for the young lads and it was a good evening I thought.”

On Nacer Barazite playing centre-forward…

“I think we have seen a couple of options for Nacer, that’s wide or as a central striker. We’re just working on a few different options and scenarios for him to see how he develops.”

On the shape of the squad at this stage in pre-season…
“I think the aim is to come through the pre-season injury-free after some good workouts.  Getting everyone is nice and fit without any injuries is what we aim for and I think we’re on course for that.”

On the pre-season schedule…

“They come back on the 7th of July and do 10 days hard work. Then we played out first game (against Barnet) and the first-team went off to Austria. Now everyone’s back we’ll work towards the beginning of the season.

“The whole structure of the pre-season programme, from day one, incorporates a football. From the start they’re actually working with the ball – and they work very hard."

On the results of a strenuous pre-season schedule…
“You can see that they get physically stronger and sharper. We are getting ready for the first game of the season, that means we’re still 15 days away at the moment. But we can see some good signs at the moment.”
