On getting back to winning ways…
I thought they really got about it today. We worked on a few things before the game and said we were going to press them and win the ball back as high as we could. They got at it right from the first whistle.

On the goal his team conceded…
Again in the second half we got caught and they could have headed in with another free header but it’s something young players tend to do and it’s something that we’ve got to work on.

On Jay Emmanuel-Thomas’ stunning second goal…
I didn’t see what he actually did it was so quick. It was a good bit of individual skill that I’ve shown him how to practice! It was great skill.

On the overall performance of his team…
I think it was a good all-round performance with the ball and especially without the ball which we were really pleased with. There wasn’t a lot wrong with our general play [last week]. There were maybe a couple of individual and collective defensive mistakes but young players are going to do that and over the season you can work on it and the mistakes come in less and less.

On the nearing FA Youth Cup…
It bodes well for the FA Youth Cup becasue there are a lot of young players who can play in the youth team. We are starting to see one or two go and the next generation come through and that will be a new experience for them. The Club always looks forward to it. It’s a big tradition within the Club and we’ve had great success with it. Fingers crossed we can have a good run and be successful again.
