on the performance...
I thought it was a real game. I said to the players beforehand and again at half time that this was what they had come to experience. You know what you are going to get in terms of an atmosphere and a team working really hard, decisions not going your way and those negative things that can happen but which you can't influence. All you can influence is your own performance. So in some respects they stood up to that.

on Olympiacos...
They had defenders who wanted to defend, who were physical and got tight on us and denied us space. On the other side of the game, they looked to cause us problems. By and large we dealt with it OK, and in the first half I thought we created two, three or four decent situations where we might have done better and also defended quite well.

on conceding late on...
At half time I thought we were OK; I wasn't sure we were going to win the game, but I thought we might have enough not to lose it. You could tell in the last 10 minutes that there was a goal in it, but we weren't sure which way it was going to go. We looked a bit leggy and tired in that period. Then, when the goal comes in the last eight minutes it knocks you back and lifts Olympiacos, and gives them some impetus and another surge of energy.

on Hector Bellerin's red card...
I thought it was a bit harsh. I am not sure if he was the last man, there was about three or four people recovering, so I thought he was unlucky. Then they scored from the resulting free kick, which took a deflection off the wall. It was a game that could have gone either way, but they probably deserved it for their second-half performance.

on what the players will learn…
They will learn that this is a tough game. You want games like this, you want them to experience it and taste different aspects to the game. Not just the football side of it, but the other side. So the positive is that these are good games to play in and you hope it speeds up the players' learning process.
