Jack Wilshere was satisfied with Arsenal's points haul from the festive season and he believes Arsène Wenger's side can achieve even more when they close out games more effectively.
The Gunners beat Chelsea and Birmingham and drew with Wigan and Manchester City in the space of nine days over Christmas and the New Year to stay in touch with Premier League leaders Manchester United.
However the manner of Arsenal's stalemate at Wigan - they conceded a late equaliser against ten men - concerned Wilshere.
"Overall I thought we had a good Christmas period," he told Arsenal.com. "We got eight points from four games and we're close to Manchester United so I think it's been a successful period.
"I think we need to learn to see out games a bit more. We've had some disappointing results when we've been leading and teams have come back to draw or beat us. I think we should close games out a bit better but we will do that."
Wilshere could not have wished for a better 2010 - he started it as a highly-rated prospect and ended it as an Arsenal regular and an England international. The midfielder turned 19 on New Year's Day and he believes 2011 will be another good year for the Club's young talent.
"I think there are a few youngsters coming through," he said.
"Emmanuel Frimpong is injured but when he comes back he will have a big year, there are a few like Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, there are a few on loan, hopefully Kieran Gibbs can stay fit and have a good year too.
"For me, last year was everything I dreamed of. I've had so many highlights - I've played for England, broken into the Arsenal first team - 2010 was a dream. I have learned to play for the team too. Maybe before I was playing for myself too much but the boss has told me to play more for the team.
"I have got to try and carry on playing in the first team, keep my place and hopefully push on into the international team. I want to win trophies with Arsenal and hopefully we can do that in 2011."Copyright 2013 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
