Arsenal play a day before Premier League leaders Manchester United this weekend and Jack Wilshere knows three points against West Ham will really turn up the pressure on Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

A victory at Upton Park on Saturday afternoon would take the Gunners to within a point of United ahead of their trip to White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Wins over Chelsea and Birmingham plus stalemates against Manchester City and Wigan have left Arsenal in touch with the leaders and Wilshere believes that Arsène Wenger’s side can maintain their Premier League momentum against the Hammers.

“No matter what you say, if we play before them and get three points they are always going to be thinking we are on their tails,” the midfielder told Arsenal.com.

“We’ve been strong in the Premier League for the last few games. We need to keep that going, get three points at West Ham and keep pushing on and trying to catch United.

“We need to catch them. If we play well at West Ham we can get the win there.

“We know everyone can drop points, it will be hard for us to go to the bottom club on Saturday. They are bottom but they have got players like Scott Parker who can play for England. It shows the strength of the Premier League this year.”
