Jack Wilshere admits he is still trying to prove himself at Arsenal.
It has been an incredible 12 months for the young midfielder. Speaking at a Question and Answer session with Junior Gunners at Members Day, Wilshere recalled that at the start of August last year he had not actually played for Arsène Wenger’s side in a competitive game.
Of course, he has since gone on to establish himself for Club and Country. For Wilshere, it has brought an extra responsibility to perform and he is not about to rest on his laurels.
“I don’t really feel any more pressure now,” he said. “I play in a good team so the players around me make it easier. There is a bit more responsibility though.
“At this stage last year I had not played a game for Arsenal. I was just trying to prove myself. I am still trying to prove myself now really. I am just trying to keep my place in the team.
“I am still young and I know I have a lot to learn but there is a bit more responsibility on me now.”Copyright 2016 The Arsenal Football Club plc. Permission to use quotations from this article is granted subject to appropriate credit being given to www.arsenal.com as the source
