Jack Wilshere... midfielder makes record-breaking substitute appearance
Wilshere becomes youngest FA Cup Gunner
Another competition, another record broken by Jack Wilshere.
The midfielder, who turned 17 on New Year’s Day, became the youngest Arsenal player to appear in the FA Cup when he replaced Nicklas Bendtner after 86 minutes of Saturday’s Third-Round tie against Plymouth Argyle.
Aged 17 years and two days, the youngster trumped previous record-holder Stewart Robson by 55 days.
On Saturday, September 13, Jack became Arsenal’s youngest player in the League and on Tuesday, November 25, aged 16 years and 329 days, he broke Theo Walcott’s record to become the youngest Gunner to appear in European competition.
The Hitchin-born teenager celebrated this latest record by signing professional terms with the Club after the game.
