Even though Arsenal could go seven points clear of Chelsea this evening, the Stamford Bridge side are still title contenders according to Arsène Wenger.

For much of the current campaign, the race for the Premier League crown has had two front-runners. Arsenal had their noses ahead from mid-September until Boxing Day. Since then they have been playing leapfrog with Sir Alex Ferguson's side. Currently Manchester United are top on goal difference.

Victory this evening against Newcastle will see Arsenal return to the summit - for 24 hours at least. And Wenger is not fooled by the sizeable gap a win would create over Chelsea.

"I believe that it will be tight until the end of the season," said the Frenchman. "I watched Chelsea the other night. They had 11 players out and it was still very strong. What was on the pitch was very experienced. So you can't discount Chelsea."
