Jack Wilshere is being groomed as England’s new ‘holding’ midfielder but his club manager thinks he can play anywhere.
The 19-year-old made his full international debut in midweek in the ‘Claude Makelele role’ when the Three Lions came from behind to beat Denmark in Copenhagen.
England manager Fabio Capello sees a future for Wilshere in front of the back four and one newspaper tagged him ‘Jack-elele’ but Wenger insists the young Gunner can produce the goods further forward.
“He can play in any position,” said the manager. “He can play everywhere on the football pitch because he's a good football player.
"I didn't see the performance [in Denmark] so it's very difficult to assess but my assistants were there and they told me Jack has done very well."Copyright 2016 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
