Arsène Wenger believes that a future Arsenal side could be built around Jack Wilshere.

The 19-year-old has been a revelation since breaking into the first team at the start of the campaign and will end his first top-flight season as the PFA Young Player of the Year and a fully-fledged England international.

Wenger knows that Wilshere must work hard to build on his meteoric rise this term but the manager thinks he could be the midfield hub of the Arsenal team for years to come.

"It's down to him," said Wenger. "I feel personally [he can achieve] a lot because he has had a huge impact on the team and for a first season he has been outstanding.

"The second season most of the time can be more difficult so we have not to put too much pressure on him and just let him develop.

"What he has done is very promising for the future. Of course, he's the kind of player who is certainly one of the bases of the team of the future at the Club."
