Arsène Wenger will not be rushing back Robin van Persie for the Champions League Knockout Round second leg in a fortnight's time.
Arsenal are up against it after playing out a goalless draw in the first leg at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday. They know they need to score at the San Siro if they want to progress and the Dutchman will surely add to their attacking options.
Wenger does not discount the possibility of Van Persie being back in the squad. However, speaking to Arsenal TV Online on Thursday, the manager baulked at the suggestion he should fast-track the 24-year-old who has only three games to his name since October.
"No [I will not rush him back]," said the manager. "He is not a very long away from being fit at all but he lacks match-practice. Could he be in the squad? Maybe but don't forget he has not played regularly for five months now."Copyright 2016 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
