Alex Song is NOT ready to play as a centre-back, according to Arsène Wenger.
The midfielder has missed the last three games through injury but is set to return to the Arsenal squad to face Manchester City on Saturday.
With William Gallas and Thomas Vermaelen (both calf) expected to miss the rest of the season, Song is one of the players who could deputise in defence for the final three games of the campaign.
But manager Wenger says the 22-year-old is not ready for that role yet - and has explained why.
"He has not the reflexes at the moment," said the Frenchman.
"He has the capacity to play there but we have seen against Barcelona and once or twice that he has not the reflexes yet.
"He needs to practise two or three weeks in there to have all the knowledge of the game."
