Arsène Wenger says he is more concerned with getting injured players back than re-signing fellow countryman Robert Pires.

The Frenchman has been training with the Club at London Colney as he continues his quest for fitness after his summer release from Villarreal.

Sol Campbell re-joined Arsenal in January after a similar arrangement but Wenger insists that Pires will not follow in his former team-mate’s footsteps.

“No, we have enough players,” said the manager.

“We have a big squad, we have 25 players. We will respect our wage bill and we will not go above what we have planned financially with the players.

“We have the players, it is time for us to get the players back on the pitch because we pay as well the players who don’t play.

“We want them back on the pitch and we have medically to make a big effort to get everybody back. You want your players to perform on the football pitch.”
