Arsène Wenger is relishing his side’s “biggest week of the season”.
Arsenal began it by consolidating their position in the top four. They won 4-1 at Wigan on Saturday then saw Everton draw with Aston Villa the following day to leave Wenger’s men with an eight-point cushion to fifth place.
On Wednesday they can secure a place the Champions League Semi-Final if they get past Villarreal at Emirates Stadium. Then on Saturday Arsenal face Chelsea at Wembley in the last four of the FA Cup. It is going to be a cracking, pressure-filled few days – and that is just how Wenger wants it.
“Yes,” he replied at Wigan when asked if it was the most important week of the campaign so far, “but I love that personally.
“There is always big tension in there at these times and we want to deal well with it. If you don’t have the tension then you go for nothing. I feel this is a big chance to have that in front of us now.”
