Carlos Vela... played in Arsenal's defeat to Manchester City
Wenger - What the youngsters have learnt
By Nick Teale
Arsenal's Carling Cup campaign came to an end with a 3-0 defeat against Manchester City last Wednesday but, as ever, the experience was a valuable one for the young Gunners.
Arsène Wenger has hinted that some of those players who took part against City could also feature against Olympiacos on Wednesday.
Speaking about the Quarter-Final defeat, Wenger explained that the match taught his younger players some vital lessons.
"[They learnt] that a lot of possession is not enough," he said. "You need to be efficient in the final third and that's basically what they missed at Man City.
"When you're 17 or 18 you think that you can play at this level.
"I think most of the players can play at this level but it's part of the learning process as well to see that it's not as easy as it looks and it's important that you realise that sometimes at 17 or 18 because the nature of youth is impatience."
