Arsène Wenger has praised Swansea for their ‘magic’ achievement in reaching the Premier League.
Wenger is currently preparing his side to face Brendan Rodgers’ men at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, and says their impressive rise to English football’s top tier should be admired.
The Swans gained promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs last season to become the competition's first ever Welsh side, but are still on the hunt for their opening victory.
“What they have achieved is absolutely magic,” Wenger said. “At this moment last season, no-one would have given them a chance, so what they have done is absolutely fantastic.
“Swansea are a team who look at the numbers who are one of the four or five best teams in terms of passing ability.”
But despite the praise, Wenger insists his team will be offering no let up against the Swans as the Gunners also search for their first Premier League victory of the season.
“It is the next game, and that is always the most important,” he said. “We just want to come back and show we can win games.
“We do not look too much against who we play, we just focus on ourselves winning a game in the Premier League.
“For us basically it is a new start, we start now and want to in a strong way. Swansea are a good side, but we want to win the game tomorrow.”Copyright 2013 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
