Arsène Wenger insists he won’t be taking Coventry City lightly when the teams meet in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night.
The Sky Blues have endured a difficult start to life in League 1 this season - failing to win any of their opening eight league games.
But Wenger is adamant that having a big squad will help him select a strong side for the fixture at Emirates Stadium.
“We will be focused to do well in this competition and we have an opportunity to do so against Coventry,” he told Arsenal Player.
“Because we have a big squad we will of course put out a strong team. When you think that Wilshere will still not be involved, Rosicky will not be involved, Sagna will not be involved, you can see that the squad is quite big and strong in quality.”
The game is set to be a sell-out, and Wenger is thankful to the Arsenal fans for their continued support.
“Our fans are absolutely fantastic,” he said. “I’m personally so proud and feel so lucky to play for so many years in front of a sold-out stadium.
“That means we want to give the supporters back what they expect from us - and that is total commitment and complete resilience for the 90 minutes we play. I am sure the boys will do that on Wednesday night.”
