Arsène Wenger wants his side to learn from their 1-0 defeat at Norwich on Saturday.
Grant Holt’s first-half strike was enough to give Chris Hughton’s team their first win of the season on a day when Arsenal were uncharacteristically below par.
Speaking after the final whistle, Wenger admitted he was disappointed with the result and acknowledged the team did not create enough opportunities at Carrow Road.
“I am angry, but you have to acknowledge we have not created a lot today,” he said. “Overall it was disappointing but we were not in the game for the first 20 minutes with complete focus, we gave an easy goal away and from then on we made it difficult.
“We had to equalise before half-time to win this game. We did not do it and after that I felt there was always something missing - sharpness, decisiveness in the box. Offensively we were really not at our level.
“It is a good lesson, but I would have preferred not to get it, because if you need lessons like that you will stand there at the end of the season and be full of regrets.
“We have to face the reality that if you are not completely ready in the Premier League, then you have no chance.”
The game at Carrow Road was the first time Arsenal had failed to score in nine games and Wenger expects his team to rediscover their goal touch soon.
“Today was a poor collective offensive performance, rather than one individual missing,” he said. “We scored goals until now. We were just poor today.
“We have players out who will come back and then we will see, but today we did not create enough, that is for sure.
“The gap [of 10 points to leaders Chelsea] is very unpleasant,” Wenger added. “We had an opportunity that Tottenham could win and we could win, and we both lost. That of course makes the gap a lot bigger.
“You cannot say you do not worry about that, but what is more disappointing is that we could not score. After we went 1-0 down, we had the ball for 70 minutes and could not score a goal.
“We have to give Norwich credit because physically they were strong, very committed, well organised, played to stop us from playing and did it very well.”Copyright 2017 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
