on a great European night...
"It was a great night for us, yes, Before the
game we wanted to play well defensively and score goals, and we
managed to combine both. I'm very happy with the performance of
the team, togetherness, but as well with the fluency, the speed,
the technical part of the game we want to play. Overall the
technical quality I feel in patches was very high, and shows that
the team is getting better and better."
on looking ahead...
"We want first to go through against Juventus,
there is still the difficult part to do. I feel we have done half
of the job and of course we want to finish the job next week.
Juventus at home will of course try and come at us but we will try
again to go out there and try to score goals. I rate our chances
50/50 to go through... [but] winning the tournament? It's a
long, long way to go. I believe we can go through and believe we
will finish the job at Juventus but there is still a lot to come,
you know. Let's win on Saturday against Aston Villa."
on playing without fear...
"They are not inhibited, I find it a great
quality. For a long time maybe we needed to adjust to the
Premiership, to find confidence. Did Real Madrid help us? I
don't know, it looks like we have no inhibition at the moment.
But football is so fragile you need to be very cautious because one
unexpected defeat and suddenly you are back again, you know?
There's quality in the side and it's good to
watch."
on Robert Pires' handling of Patrick Vieira...
"If Robert starts to tackle that's a very
good sign for Arsenal! I said many times that I think Robert has a
chance to play for the French national team. I think he had a great
performance tonight."
