Arsène Wenger admits it is “very unlikely” that his side will win the Premier League but knows his side can have a big say in where the trophy ends up.

If leaders Manchester United win their game in hand, Arsenal will sit 13 points behind the leaders with only six games left to play. However, the Gunners still have to face all three teams above them.

Because of the points deficit, Wenger has all but ruled out a late title charge, but the manager is adamant that his side will help decide the eventual winners.

“If we don’t win the league, at least we have a strong word in who else will win it,” the Frenchman said at Tuesday’s press conference. “And there is still a little chance to get back on Chelsea. We want to play like we have a good chance.

“We have not given up yet to come back this season. It is very unlikely we will win the Premier League this season.

“But we give absolutely everything in every game and we still have a chance to do it and to finish as close as possible to the top.

“We have big challenges in the Premier League when we play Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.”
