After just 14 games, all thoughts of winning the title are
"for dreamers", according to Arsène Wenger.
The Arsenal manager has guided his side to their best start since
the Premier League began and they visit Newcastle this evening
hoping to go six points clear at the top of the table. However all
thoughts of lifting that massive silver trophy for a fourth time
this May are idles ones.
"Maybe dreamers they think about the title," he said.
"But we are realistic people and we know that at 14 games
there is still a long way to go, 24 games.
"The Premier League title is fantastic because it is down to
consistency and you get that if you are capable to get your
resources together for every single game. That is why we are not
dreamers and are realistic people.
"We do of course think we are capable and we will grab that
chance if we can get the best out of our team."
And Wenger scoffed at suggestions his young, inexperienced side
will let their lofty position go to their heads.
"I believe first of all I am lucky to have a young side but an
intelligent side and that helps them to understand that, in
football, things can change quickly," he said.
"As well, we must focus on the football we want to play and
therefore we can improve a lot considering the vision we have of
our game. The players realise there is a lot of improvement to
make."
