Arsenal are in a “strong position” to keep Cesc Fabregas at Arsenal, according to Arsène Wenger.
The manager was swamped by questions about the future of his Spanish midfielder at Friday’s pre-match press conference. It followed media reports linking the 21-year-old with a move back to his home town club.
The stories were given very short shrift by Wenger, especially as his captain is under a long-term contact.
“I don’t really care, basically,” said the manager. “If you put that story in front of me I wouldn’t even read it.
“I know we are in a strong position with Cesc, basically it’s not important what people write in Spain. But that will not stop people writing, so what is the need for me to deny or not deny. “Copyright 2013 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
