Arsène Wenger knows his side must prove the bookmakers wrong in order to lift the Premier League title.

Arsenal went top of the table with a 2-1 win over Fulham at Emirates Stadium on Saturday. However, they are still third in the odds behind Manchester United and Chelsea.

But, as England’s World Cup bid team found out last week, the most-fancied side does not always win.

“We are not favourites but we are where we are,” said the Frenchman.

“Look at the odds. You should have looked at the odds for the World Cup. Five minutes before they gave the result, the odds were 2/1 for England. Not in Russia, though! So we can still have hope!

“It is always good psychologically to go top. I remember when we lost against Newcastle we were five points behind the leaders and we had to go to Wolves and Everton.

“Three weeks later to be top shows let’s just keep going and give it our best shot."
