Billions of people across the world will celebrate New Year’s Eve tonight but the Arsenal players will be tucked up in bed long before Big Ben strikes 12.
With a crucial Premier League game against Birmingham on Saturday on the agenda – plus an opportunity to go back to the top of the table – Arsène Wenger’s players won’t be partaking in any celebrations.
But far from being disappointed on missing out on the festivities, Wenger fails to see what all the fuss is about when it comes to seeing in the New Year.
“We go to bed as early as possible,” said the manager. “They have to be in bed at 11pm.
“But it’s so boring at midnight. Because, usually, if you go out somewhere it’s 20 times more expensive than usual, and 20 times more boring than usual!"
