Arsène Wenger believes his squad has the tools to stay unbeaten until the end of the season.

Arsenal have not lost in 18 Premier League games and have only suffered one defeat in 2009. Even that – a 1-0 reverse at Roma – felt like a victory after a triumphant penalty shoot-out at the Stadio Olimpico.

There have been some close shaves along the way, not least when Villarreal took a deserved lead in the first leg of the Champions League Quarter-Final. But Arsenal’s fightback at El Madrigal last week convinced Wenger that his players have what it takes to keep their impressive run going.

“We will try,” said the Frenchman. “I believe the determination, the hunger and the quality is there and we face now test after test.

“What makes me confident is that recently, in every single game, when the odds were against us we found the resources within the team with a strong response every single time.

“That happened at Villarreal, that happened again at Wigan and every time we came out strong.”
