Wenger: 'We had to dig deep to win the game'

on the performance and Jose Antonio Reyes' impact...
"I feel it was a spirited performance from Man City and they made it very difficult for us. We needed to dig deep to win the game but I always felt that we were ready to fight until the last minute to make the difference. But at 1-1, the game could have gone maybe both sides because Man City had one or two good chances as well and we needed the fresh players that came on. Maybe Reyes came on and made the difference but we had a few chances before as well."

on Ashley Cole's comeback and his chances of playing against Wigan...
"It's his first game, of course he cannot be at the top of his game but for me he did last the 90 minutes. He finished the game very tired and he had no injury during this 90 minutes. We have to see how he recovers for Sunday. Centre-back is not the same as full-back, you need to run much more [at full-back] so I need to see how he recovers and what I will do on Sunday but the good thing is that he's available and he can play."

on Cole's availability for the World Cup Finals...
"For England, it's just right because we are at the beginning of May, the competition starts on the 10th of June - in five weeks. You will have a perfect Ashley Cole."

on Sol Campbell's form and fitness...
"You could see the difference. Sol Campbell looked a little bit like Ashley Cole in his first game but today he looked much sharper because he has three games. You need three to four games to get back to a very good level but the positives are that he didn't get injured and overall he played better and better during the game."

on the race for fourth place and Tottenham's visit to West Ham...
"I feel that we have to do the job first and to win the game. I think it's in the interests of West Ham to win their game. When you want to win a Cup Final it's better you play well the game before and England has fair competition, its always difficult to win at West Ham. If you want to prepare for the [FA Cup] Final it's better you play."
