Wenger on...the result
"I am disappointed of course because we gave a very cheap goal
away. The overall level was not satisfying for me, I expected a
much better game. We had a lot of possession but lacked
incisiveness and physical pressure on their defenders. The
team is disappointed and we need to realise we can do much
better."
Wenger on...his team's belief
"We lacked a fraction of belief and we will go
home very frustrated. But I try to be as objective as I can and I
don't think there was a difference of quality between the two
sides."
Wenger on...failing to score
"It is not a big worry because we usually score
goals. There were some positive points in our game, especially with
Alexander Hleb, he had a good game. There were some interesting
combinations we can create in the future but I would like squad and
team to have more belief."
Wenger on...Drogba's winning goal
"I think Senderos tried to play him
offside and I don't know what happened. There was a
misunderstanding with Lehmann as well. We did not score and the
game was about who made the first mistake."
Wenger on...Chelsea's financial power
"When you are a football player what matters is
not the money on your back but whether you make a good pass or a
bad pass. Money is more a consequence of negotiations than an
indication of a player's quality. After all, we see many
players who are sold for a lot of money but don't produce
much."
Wenger on...the rest of the season
"I don't accept that. We have a lot of potential, it is
only the second game and the future will tell us how big our
ambition is. My ambition is very high and I want it to be a great
season for the club. I have seen positive signs which can make it a
great season."
