Arsène Wenger is convinced his young Arsenal side can repeat or even improve on their Champions League performance last season.
According to the Frenchman, history has shown that successful teams with a certain flair can sustain their success in European competition. Speaking in the eve of his side's Champions League qualifier first leg at Dinamo Zagreb, Wenger argued his side could follow suit.
"I am convinced that in any competition we can get better," he said. "We were a very young side last year but when you are young and intelligent you can improve quickly.
"Most of the sides who have gone to the Champions League Final with a style and a convincing way to play like we did last year have all got back into the Final.
"You had the examples of Ajax, Juventus and Real Madrid. They won it one time and they came back. That is our target this season. Don't forget we got to the Final last year without losing a game and we lost only in the last 13 minutes when we were down to 10 men.
"You always have to do more and we can count on people to fix our targets even higher.
"But we should have enough confidence to come back. It will be tricky, just like this game against Zagreb, but we should have enough quality to do it."
