Having blazed a trail back into the title race, Arsenal now have to turn up the heat on the other contenders according to Arsène Wenger.

The Frenchman led his side to a timely 2-1 victory over Manchester United at the weekend.

Just when Arsenal were starting to be written off, they stormed back thanks to a brace from Samir Nasri. Wenger feels it could be the turning point of his side’s campaign - if they keep the same intensity from now on.

“I believe [it can] yes,” said Wenger. “It depends on how well we keep the heat up, how well we keep that fantastic desire that we had in the squad on Saturday and how much we can maintain the level.

“Not only do you want to keep that feel-good factor but you want to develop it and maintain the quality. We suffered before this game and we can learn from that.

“I believe my players are intelligent and they can show not only that we can learn from that but we can maintain that kind of pace in every single game.

“I was very happy that [the win over Man United] can reinforce the belief in the team. For me that is the most important thing.

“It will whet the appetite to push on from there and not to release the pressure.

“We want pressure and we want to compete in every game but you have to keep the belief."
