Arsène Wenger says Arsenal’s incredible fightback against Reading should act as inspiration for their next two games.

The Gunners face a crucial week as they first travel to Manchester United on Saturday, before facing Schalke in the Champions League three days later.

But having seen his side somehow claw their way back from 4-0 down to win 7-5 after extra time, Wenger says they head into this period in a positive frame of mind.

“We can be inspired by this,” the manager told Arsenal Player. “We need that spirit, that never-give-up attitude for the next two games.

“We had two phases [against Reading] - the first half disastrous, the second half outstanding. I thought with five minutes to go that at least we had shown a different performance in the second half.

“Fortunately we got back to 4-4 and in extra time we always looked in control of the game. It is a great experience to see that we didn't give up and came back with a positive performance.”
