Arsène Wenger has described his side as “super outsiders” for the Champions League.

Arsenal face Villarreal in their Quarter-Final first leg this evening, the side they overcame to reach their first European Cup Final in 2006.

The Yellow Submarine currently trail La Liga leaders Barcelona by 24 points, while Arsenal sit 10 points off the Premier League summit.

And, speaking at Monday’s pre-match press conference, the Arsenal manager admitted that the odds are stacked against his side whether they win in Spain or not.

"We are super outsiders because all of the favourites are Liverpool, Manchester United and Barcelona,” admitted Wenger.

“I think tonight is a 50:50. We are super-outsiders to win the trophy of the Champions League because when you look at the bookmakers, we are not in there.

“It puts a little less pressure on you but once you are on the pitch, it doesn’t change too much.”
