On the performance...
"We were solid, had more chances than Portsmouth and had a great spirit. We did well against a side who fought very hard. Overall I am pleased at the way things went with so many young players playing. We should have won the game, that was the only frustrating thing."

On David James...
"It is not a surprise he is their Player of the Year. He made a great save on the penalty."

On being pipped to third by Liverpool...
"We finish on the same number of points. After 38 games the only difference was two goals and I don't think that has a great significance. We aim to come back and fight much higher up [the table] next season."

On the decision over Julio Baptista's future...
"It will be next week I believe."

On why Freddie Ljungberg did not play...
"He only had one day training and still felt a tightness in his hamstring."

On Portsmouth's disallowed goal ...
"Frankly from the bench it was impossible to see. We watched it again on the video and we are not sure. We feel we scored a regular goal with Justin Hoyte."

On the areas for improvement next season...
"We have done well against the top 10 teams but away from home against the second part of the Premiership we did not get enough points. Also our conversion rate can be better. You could see that again today."
