Arsène Wenger thinks Robin van Persie is “on fire”. Incredibly the flying Dutchman has scored or made the assist for every Arsenal goal in January.
Of course there are three games left in the month but Wenger is backing his striker to continue his imperious run of form.
At Friday’s pre-match press conference ahead of the FA Cup tie at Cardiff, the manager paid tribute to Van Persie’s contribution and noted his progress since arriving in North London five years ago.
“He is on fire and he has become a very important player,” said the Frenchman.
“When you talk about youth, Van Persie came here at the age of 21 and look at the way he has developed since his arrival.”
