Wenger - US and Asia will become major forces

By Richard Clarke

Arsène Wenger believes that the US and Asia will emerge as football's new talent pools in the near future.

The Arsenal manager has just agreed to let highly-rated FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea train with his side. Since the turn of the year, he has also acquired Japanese winger Ryo and Korean striker Ju-Young Park.

The Arsenal manager expects more players from these countries to stamp their mark on the sport in the near future.

"I believe there are two [areas] that will certainly influence the modern game," he told Arsenal Player. "One will be the United States, where football is becoming more and more popular and the quality is rising. The second big part I am convinced will be Asia.

"These are two continents that I think will be the future of the game. America will produce more and more top level players and Asia as well.

"In these two countries they have an aptitude to have a team attitude and a hard-working attitude too. Once they get the education, they will start to produce good players."
