Arsène Wenger believes Tottenham duo Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart have helped take Harry Redknapp’s side to a new level this season.
Dutchman Van der Vaart has been a revelation since joining from Real Madrid on transfer deadline day in August while the left-sided Welshman is enjoying an eye-catching campaign and was recently named PFA Player of the Year.
The pair played an integral role in Tottenham’s run to the Champions League Quarter-Finals and both scored in the 3-2 turnaround at Emirates Stadium in September.
“He [Van der Vaart] has given them something in the final third,” Wenger told Arsenal.com ahead of Wednesday’s North London derby at White Hart Lane.
“Gareth Bale has played the whole season and has done extremely well. You can understand that Bale is in the frame and fighting for it [the PFA Player of the Year award].”
