Arsène Wenger insists there is no problem with Arsenal's team spirit.
The Club has been in the headlines in recent days following quotes made by William Gallas in the French media. The defender has since been replaced as Arsenal’s captain but Wenger is adamant that the saga does not mean there are divisions within his squad.
Arsenal's morale has been picked over in the press but Wenger insists that, if you look carefully enough, you can identify divisions or camaraderie at any football club.
"There is no problem with our morale," said Wenger at his pre-match press conference. "I can find you a problem with team morale in every single team or no problem in every team. I don't feel it's a basic problem in our team. Spirit is good.
"I don't feel that [our results have been affected by morale]," he added. "I feel at the moment it is more linked with inconsistency and we need to be defensively stronger because everyone defends very, very well against us.
"You see over the weekend Aston Villa against us and Manchester United, Chelsea against Newcastle, Liverpool against Fulham, that it is difficult to score goals and for us it's very important to be consistent defensively. If after an hour it is 0-0 we have more chance of winning the game than losing it."Copyright 2013 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
