On the performance...
"It was a physical game. Sometimes too physical. We tried to play but Ajax defended well and were disciplined. We needed patience. We created a few chances but could not take them."

On the benefits of the tournament...
"Overall I am pleased with the performance of the team in the tournament as a whole because we had two quality games. We have built up our belief and confidence. There is a great solidarity in the squad now."

On the injury to Robin van Persie...
"He is OK. The first signs are not too bad. He was kicked on the foot he injured last year. We will hope for the best. He walked out [of the stadium afterwards] but we'll see how he reacts."

On Toure and Gallas ...
"Our two centre backs went forward a lot and I encourage them to do it. We want to go forward. When we won the ball tonight, Ajax recovered quickly and went behind the ball. We needed the defenders to make a difference and, of course, Clichy made the goal."

On Ajax...
"They have a good quality team. I think we blocked Sneijder well and Huntelaar too. Kennedy had a good game but Clichy kept him quiet. I felt we controlled the game overall."
