Arsène Wenger is backing his 'understudies' to put in starring performances at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night.

Arsenal's cast has been shorn of some big names for the Champions League Quarter-Final second leg with Cesc Fabregas, Andrey Arshavin, William Gallas and Alex Song joining the likes of Robin van Persie on the injury list.

Any side would miss players of that calibre but Wenger has always waxed lyrical about his squad - not his team - and he believes he has the resources to give Barcelona a run for their money with the tie delicately poised at 2-2.

Denilson, Abou Diaby and Samir Nasri could line up as Arsenal's midfield triumvirate at the home of the European champions and their manager thinks they will shine.

"What gives me belief is the quality of players I still have on the pitch," he said. "I still have some good players to leave out.

"Denilson had a very good start to the season, then he had a little dip, now he's coming back very strong. Nasri has developed very well this season, step by step. Diaby has become a very important player in our squad as well.

"They can turn up with a massive performance. This team has character, and when you have character you always have hope. We have character and quality. With character and quality you can fight anywhere in the world."
