Arsène Wenger believes the Arsenal 2012 Tour, presented by Emirates, was an invaluable experience on a number of levels.

Wenger and his players returned to London on Monday morning after a successful three-stop trip, which included games against a Malaysia XI, Manchester City and FC Kitchee.

The manager knows there is still work to do on the training pitches ahead of the new season but he says the tour was a big success.

“It has been good for us because let's not forget that we had a very demanding tour physically, with a lot of travelling and a lot of hot weather,” Wenger told Arsenal Player. “You could see that it took us time to get into the games.

“But it has been a good experience on all fronts; camaraderie and meeting new people in new countries. On the physical side we had to dig deep every time.

“All of the players are fighting to get back to the physical standards that are requested. But there are some positives. Diaby played three games - OK only three halves, but it is still three games. We have no injuries from the tour and it was a great experience.”
