Arsène Wenger admits Arsenal’s next two fixtures are the most important of the season so far.
Wenger’s team host Tottenham in Saturday’s north London derby, before welcoming Montpellier to Emirates Stadium for Wednesday night’s crucial Champions League clash.
The manager recognises the importance the next week will have, not only in shaping his team’s season, but for others competing in Europe as well.
“It’s very important for many clubs,” he said.
“When you look at the number of players who pulled out of their international game, all over Europe, you realise that many teams go into decisive games, especially in the Champions League, it’s game No 5. That’s usually a decider for the qualifier.
“You could see that this week, when you saw the number of players who were not in the international friendlies."
