When it comes to the Champions League, Arsène Wenger knows you must be in it to win it.
Arsenal took a giant stride towards the Group Stages with a 2-0 win at Celtic last Tuesday in the Play-off Round first leg. If they can complete their passage through after Wednesday’s second leg it would be their 12th consecutive season in Europe’s top competition.
But at his pre-match press conference, Wenger was taking nothing for granted.
“My priority is still to get into the Champions League first and once we are in it, to try to win," he said. "We live in a pragmatic world so let’s first get in it.
“It’s not job done, it’s job to do. That’s how I approach it. There’s a job to do and to finish. We have done a big part of it but the most important [thing] is to get over the line and that’s what we want to achieve tomorrow.”
