“Proud” Arsène Wenger believes that Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey have the ability to respond to their current expectation levels.
Wilshere, who this season has become Arsenal’s youngest League, FA Cup and European player, signed professional terms at the Club this week. Meanwhile Ramsey, who signed from Cardiff City last summer, has been included in every first-team squad since November.
The duo are the latest talented Arsenal youngsters to set tongues wagging across the country and, speaking at Friday’s pre-match press conference, Wenger explained why he expects them to flourish.
“Personally I am very proud of the job I am doing. I have a great belief in this squad and these players. They will come out very strong,” said the manager.
“If we keep giving [Wilshere and Ramsey] the confidence they will show very quickly how strong they are. Of course the level of expectation is very high, and we want to respond to that as well, we want to combine developing these young talents with results.”
