On the performance...
"I felt we played against this team and
dominated the game technically and scoring early made it
comfortable for us and made it difficult for Sheffield United. They
did fight very hard but after the second goal the belief went a
little bit for them. At that moment maybe their heart went more on
the Championship rather than the Carling Cup. Certainly you could
see they were more worried thinking about the next
Championship game.
"I think overall we put in a good performance and everybody played very well and you could see the difference that in our team the confidence was high and in them it was less at the moment."
On progressing further...
"We still were missing two or three players
tonight but when everybody is here we have a good chance again
because we have a little bit more experience. It is depending
though on the injuries. Last year I sacrificed some players at the
end of this competition and we paid for it in the Champions League
and in the championship so it depends on the number of injuries I
will have. When you get to the Semi-Finals you play in two legs
then you will need a bit of experience and that is what I did last
year and in the end it caught up with us.
"It's difficult to predict in football because you go from
game to game and at the moment we are not too bad with injuries. We
have played now every three days for a month nearly and then until
the first of January every three days so maybe in one week you can
get four or five injuries."
On Eduardo...
"When I sign a player I don't judge him at
all on the first six months and I give him that time to adapt and
don't put any pressure on them. I know what it takes because
first it is the enthusiasm then it is the difficulty then a little
bit the adaptation and then you feel a bit down. You have to settle
and get the right level. You should start to look at Eduardo in
January. He started very well like many people who come here. Then
he had a bit of an injury problem with his ankle, but now he is
starting to settle in and come back."
On Fabianski captaining the side ...
"I gave the captaincy to Fabianski because at
the beginning of the season when I didn't give it to Gilberto,
I didn't want to give it to him and take it away again. That is
all. There is no problem. Gilberto was a real leader on the pitch
tonight for me. There is basically no problem. I don't know why
people see a problem with Gilberto. The only problem is that he
doesn't get the amount of games he deserves but there a few
other players in this case as you could see that tonight. He is
still a key person for me. There is not much more to say, there is
no problem so I cannot create one. Apart from the fact of the
captaincy problem which I explained to you and he is aware of
that.
"Apart from Gilberto, Fabianski is the most experienced player. He has played in the Polish national team and in the top division in Poland. It is not how many years you are at the club but what are your leadership qualities and for me Fabianski had an outstanding performance tonight."
