Arsène Wenger’s “secret hope” for Tomas Rosicky’s comeback has been dashed by the news that the Czech midfielder will NOT return this season.
On Sunday it will be 15 months since the 28-year-old was substituted against Newcastle United in an FA Cup tie at Emirates Stadium – his last appearance for the Gunners.
And speaking at Friday’s pre-match press conference, Wenger revealed that Rosicky will have to wait until next season to make his first-team comeback.
“Tomas Rosicky’s season is over,” the manager confirmed.
“I had a secret hope he would come back but since he had a second setback at the beginning of April.
“I thought that’s too much.”
