Arsène Wenger admits Japanese winger Ryo needs to be playing more regular football in the coming months.

The 19-year-old spent the tail end of last season on loan at Feyenoord, quickly becoming a fans’ favourite with three goals in his 12 appearances.

Ryo has only recently returned to full training after suffering an ankle injury for the Reserves at the beginning of November and Wenger says he will revisit the idea of a loan spell in January.

“Nothing has been decided,” said the Frenchman. “We will have a look at the whole squad.

“He needs to play now and I will sit down with him and see what we will do. He has been injured for a while now and we will see in January.”
