Arsène Wenger expects Chelsea to recover from the shock departure of Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese manager left Stamford Bridge by mutual consent on Thursday and newspaper reports have suggested that a number of Chelsea players could follow Mourinho out of the club. Wenger believes that those rumours are wide of the mark.

"No, I don't believe in a player exodus at Chelsea at all," he replied when asked about Chelsea's predicament at his pre-match press conference.
"It is not the job of players to keep the manager in their job. Their job is to play well for the club and honour the job they are paid for.

"I would never ask a player to play badly because I left the club. You want them to keep the club and the fans happy. That is a responsibility they have to face.

"Punctually some players are unhappy when you leave. That is normal but they still want to go out and win the game because that is their character."
