Arsène Wenger has rejected reports that Glenn Roeder will be appointed as Arsenal's 'Director of Football'.

The former Newcastle manager left St. James' Park last season but Wenger dismissed suggestions that his next role will be at Emirates Stadium.

"No, I have not met Glenn Roeder," said the Frenchman. "I like him, I respect him but at the moment I have not decided to appoint him."

Two weeks ago Wenger revealed that he has been operating without a 'Director of Football' during the summer to avoid unsettling his team.

The Arsenal manager has been working on transfers with long-serving director Ken Friar since David Dein's departure in April.
