Arsène Wenger is not preoccupied by Robin van Persie's fitness because he believes risk is part of playing football.
The captain has been in scintillating form throughout the calendar year, scoring 38 goals in 41 games in all competitions. His 2011 portfolio has variety as well - Van Persie has netted from close range, long range and uses his head as well as both feet.
The Dutchman has never had a year like it, largely because previous campaigns have been interrupted by injury. Wenger wants to manage Van Persie's fitness as much as he can but he knows that every game is ultimately a gamble.
"You have to accept the gamble and the risk," said Wenger. "We had periods with Thierry Henry going through stages like this, it's the same.
"Risk is part of the game and enjoyment demands risk. You have to just play full through it and that's life. That's part of sport.
"I am only thinking one game ahead because every game is vital at the moment. After the game I assess everybody and look who needs a rest or not. At the moment we are not in a calculation period, we are in a frenetic desire to win our next game."Copyright 2017 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
