Bacary Sagna is back in full training with the Arsenal squad following his successful rehabilitation from a fibular fracture suffered in October.
His return, a little ahead of schedule, is a boost for Arsène Wenger ahead of the FA Cup tie with Aston Villa on Sunday.
“Bacary is back in full training,” said the manager. “Many players who are not specialist right-backs have been playing in this position so we are relieved to have him back.”
Along with Thierry Henry, Mikel Arteta, Sagna will have a fitness test to determine his involvement this weekend. Francis Coquelin is definitely available while Kieran Gibbs is expected to start full training early next week.
“At the moment, many players are on their way back,” said Wenger. “I’ll have to look at them and see how much of a gamble I can take because we play again on Wednesday. Gibbs will certainly not be involved at all on Sunday, but the others could be involved. That will be decided before the game.”
